In 2009, Bellefontaine City Schools selected Freytag & Associates, Inc. design of two new buildings serving grades K-2 and grades 6-8. The middle school houses grades 6-8 and is a three-story 87,983 s.f. building. This building contains 20 classrooms, 6 project labs, 3 computer labs, a library media center, a visual arts area, a consumer science classroom/laboratory, a vocal music room, an instrumental music room and a gymnasium. The structure features Extended Learning Areas (ELA) shared by the classrooms in each academic wing, which adjoin an integrated outdoor natural learning space that provides natural light to the ELAs. The facility was built as LEED Silver Certified Projects. The building opened in August of 2013.
